WHAT IS HOWLITE?
Originally discovered in Canada, Howlite is a natural stone with the appearance of white marble or porcelain, interspersed with black or dark brown veins. Often referred to as “the sacred buffalo stone” or “the white buffalo stone”, the majority of howlite now comes from California, USA.
Howlite is quite porous and because of this quality, it can be dyed to offer a more cost effective alternative to similar coloured stones such as turquoise, coral and lapis lazuli. Pastiche features blue Howlite in many of our designs to achieve the desired aesthetic of turquoise with a greater durability and more affordable price tag.
Many believe Howlite is a calming stone and aids with sleep, calming the overactive mind, easing insomnia, dreaming, dream retention and stress relief. It is said to calm the whole body and release muscle tension, eliminating pain brought about by stress.
